Latest adventure in Tyranids

Got a good game in, 2k points against Ultramarines
his list was capt, librarian, 5man dev, 2x TAC squad w/ rhinos, 5man stern guard , scout squad, Daka pred, vindicator, 3 land speeders and 2 stormtalons.

I won the game, hero unit was a 5 man 1 broodlord. Took down the librarian and stern guard. Close second was my daka flyrant took out the Dev squad, capt and incaped a storm talon.

Trygon was great popping up in the backfield right next to my opponents tach squads, it bought me a turn for my 15 large brood of termagents to get into close combat.

Something's I learned was not to be afraid of flyers to much.
Also I need to not reserve Raveners if I play them, I didn't get them till turn 3 they ate a vindy but I could have done better, if they were in turn 1.

So, I finally went thru and did an inventory of all the Space Marine stuff that I got in a care package from my friend Bax. It's unbelievable, more so that I still have to count out a bunch of Eldar to go through. And I have my own collection of Space marine and Eldar stuff that I still haven't touched. Trying to get some motivation going to work on my Ultramarines, and some Dark Angels stuff.

2nd game with Nids

Well finally got back to the store today and got a chance to play my first 6ed game and my 2nd game ever with nids. I used JustinTSB's 2k list from Two Smoking Bolters recent videos.

Had a good time, my Tervigons both doubled out first turn AGAIN! I prolly would have had a shot if they held out. My genestealers got stuck early on and weren't effective. I need to do some more research, and get some more practice in.

Landraider in prep

I started to work on the land raider. Got everything clipped removed mold lines and drilled out holes for magnates on the side sponsons and the top hull gun also.

Goal for tomorrow is to get it primed and basecoated.... and 2 razorbacks also... eek

Sunday gaming

Had a good day of playing today. Got in 2 games first was a 3000pt 2v2. Opponent stole initiative and we basically got crushed in the first round. Second game was a lot better. 1850pt against nids I got to use land raider for the first time they were awesome. I forgot to roll my deep striking shoot terms for 3 rounds. Dawn of war defiantly is horrible walking on devastators kept a swarm lord alive 2 rounds. My Dread was MVP for both games first dropped in and nuked land raider, 2nd dropped in and spot lighted the swarm lord allowing everything to fire got it down to 2 wounds first round . TH termies were good in the second beat down and broke a genestealer squad . Now I have alot of work  for next weeks big game.

Making some progress

Almost finished with the Devastator squad, just have the heads to add and some flare to the bases.

I started to glue together sections of my Drop pod and razorback to get them ready for priming

Have one week to get those and a Land raider ready for a Mega battle.

Finally used the Airbrush

 

Finally sucked it up, over came my fears and fired up the airbrush this weekend. It was amazing. I managed to Prime, and base coat my 5man Dev squad in alittle over an hour, not counting time to clean out the brush between paints. The Vallejo primer shoots amazingly thru my brush, no thinning, I think my PSI was alittle high, so going to experiment alittle lower. I base coated with Extra Opaque Game Color "Heavy Blue" mixed around 4 drops Paint : 5 Drops Thinner. I used around a 50/50 mix of distilled water and windex as my thinner. I probably could have gone alittle thinner on the paint, but it shot fairly well enough to get me thru the 5 models. At the end of the day i was already getting go enough to only hit small targets with the Brush, like just the hands on the heavy weapons with little to no over-spray. 

I can't belive how much faster and smoother it was to get this done, I am going to try and get the metallic and detail done, and then move on to the next unit on the list.

Got my First game in yesterday

Got beat up pretty bad, it was annihilation, and I was more set up for objective game.
My deployment was all wrong, my Tactical mistakes were how I used my Terminators. I needed atleast 1 Landraider to make them work well. I stayed in a rhino too long and ended up getting assaulted. My Whirlwind was good, but against an entire army that has Feel No Pain it did not yield me alot of kills. My shooty Terminators did to pretty well, cut down a good chunk of an assault squad.

I was playing against a Blood Angels player, I think I would have done better against, a horde type army.

For now its back to painting, and play again in 2 weeks.

1st blood.. well prime

Primed my first piece thru the airbrush, hit it with a second round for practice. Think this is going to make life alot easier, It went on so fast, and accurate.

Loot arrived!

My airbrush from TCPglobal came in, and my order from thewarstore.com also arrived. I finished the prep work on my 5 man dev squad. After I practice with my gun I'll be working on them and a scout squad.

Drop pod

Got the prework on my Drop pod done tonight. Scraped all the mold lines. And set the doors up to be magnetized. Thank god for dremels, really made the job easier.

Everything arrives friday

New airbrush set, and my paint order from thewarstore should be a good weekend.

Though I really want to go see act of valor this weekend also

Airbrushing

Just pulled the trigger on a Airbrush and Compressor set. I hear it makes things like tanks, and base coating minis alot faster. I have a huge queue of stuff to paint these days so I really hope that I can get the hang of it quickly and make some good progress in playing.

I know its not amazing but figured it was a good start, and the paints that it comes with will me good to practice with out wasting my good Valleo, or GW paints.

More mini's

Local store was having a nice 35% sale. Got myself a new Tach squad, Dreadnaught and Shooty Terminators . I was looking for some landspeeders and Razorbacks.
Started to assemble my drop pod. Going to try to get an airbrush and compressor tomorrow.

I am really excited I got a Sgt Chronus off ebay really cheap. I also managed to pick up 2 OOP Predators a mk1 and a mk2 they look alittle beat up, but I think they will be ok. I love the look of the older tanks. I'll post some pictures once I get them in the mail.

Kinda stearing away from a new army.
While I really like aspects of the Grey Knights, and they seem really really awesome I have never played 40k to win. I play for fun.I cant see packing up my Ultramarines for the silver and gold of the Grey Knights. I am going to try my hand at painting up a strike squad but I also going to pick up some Devastators.

Going to try and raise my skill level with magnetizing them for different heavy weapons, should be ~fun~

Been awhile

Thinking about getting a Grey Knights army commissioned, while I build up my Ultramarines.

Going to try to get the wife to play some xenos, and thinking about going to adepticon for some of there workshops.

Work has been taking all my time, so havn't touched a model, since my father passed away.
